Copying Notifications

You can copy a notification (and optionally the rule and all current subscriptions) from one workflow to another or within the same workflow. This eases the process of creating notifications because you can create a detailed notification once and then copy and modify it as needed instead of manually creating each notification.

The following list describes each tab of a notification and which elements are copied and which are not:

In addition, if any elements are not applicable in the target workflow (for example, transition options when the action is set to RUN TRANSITION), the notification is copied, but a warning appears that lists the elements that could not be copied.

To copy a notification:

  1. Create or edit the notification that you want to copy. (For guidance, refer to Creating Standard Notifications.)
  2. Select the notification that you want to copy, and then click the Copy button.
  3. In the Copy notification dialog box that appears, select the destination workflow from the tree.
  4. Review the name for the notification and change it if necessary. The word Copy is automatically appended to avoid duplication.
  5. Review the name for the rule and change it if necessary. The word Copy is automatically appended to avoid duplication.
    • Select the Copy rule check box to copy the rule from the source notification to the target notification. This creates a new rule that is identical to the source rule.
    • If you are copying a notification to a workflow in the same application, select the Reuse rule check box to reuse the same rule from the source notification without creating a new copy.
