Importing Data Into Your Database → Using the Import Data Wizard → Working With Import Option Sets
The Import Option Sets dialog box enables you to define and save import criteria for later execution. You can combine multiple Import Option Sets and execute them as a group, or you can re-use an Import Option Set to modify previously imported data.
The following examples describe how you can use Import Option Sets:
You can set up individual Import Option Sets for each table you need to import into in the receiving database. For example, if you need to import data into the Contacts table, the Companies table, and the Incidents table, you can create Import Option Sets that specify which data to import, which table or project to import data into, and field mapping information.
You can create Import Option Sets that query for specific data in the source database, and then import that data into separate tables at once. For example, one Import Option Set may import a subset of items into one table and another Import Option Set may import another subset of items into a different table. You can then execute these Import Option Sets at the same time.
If you want to consolidate data from different databases, you can create an Import Options Set for each database. For example, you may want to import contact and company information from one database, legacy issue-tracking data from another database, and support incidents from a third database. You can create an Import Option Set for each database, and then execute them at the same time.
The following options are available on the Import Option Sets dialog box:
Create a New Import Option Set – Select this option to create a new Import Option Set, and then click Next to specify settings for the option set.
Execute Imports With an Existing Import Option Set(s) – Select the Import Option Sets you want to execute, select this option, and then click Next to open the Execute Imports dialog box. Selected items are listed on the Execute Imports dialog box in the order they are listed on this dialog box, but they can be re-ordered by executing the import. You can sort the items in the list by clicking the column headers.
The list of previously created Import Options Sets contains the following information:
Name of Import Option Set: This column displays the name of each available Import Option Set. Option set names must be unique and are case-sensitive.
Items Evaluated: This column displays a running total of the number of items evaluated in the source database for the Import Option Set. This number may be different from the number of items actually imported; for details on the number of items imported, refer to the log file in the log folder of the SBM Application Engine installation directory on the machine from which you are performing the import. For details about logging, refer to Import Data Log Information.
Last Used: This column displays the date and time the Import Option Set was last executed.
Delete – Select an Import Option Set, and then click this button to delete it.
