Importing Data Into Your Database → Importing Data From A Generic ODBC Database → Mapping Generic Database Fields to SBM Fields → Mapping Generic Referential Field Information
A foreign key, or referential field, references a record in another table. If you map an integer source field to an SBM field that is a foreign key field, the source field is also treated as a foreign key and you must indicate reference columns in the source table in order to map field values correctly. SBM foreign key fields include Folder, Multi-Group, Multi-Relational, Multi-Selection, Multi-User, Single Relational, Single Selection, and User fields.
The following options are available on the Options: Generic Referential Field Information dialog box:
Process App Field – Indicates the foreign key field you selected on the Map External Source Fields to Destination Fields dialog box. The field type is specified in parentheses after the field name.
Source Field – Indicates the source field you specified on the Map External Source Fields to Destination Fields dialog box. The source field is listed by its database field name and field type.
Which Table Does the Above Integer Column Reference – From the drop-down list, select the table in the source database the integer column references.
Which Column in the Reference Table Matches the Above Integer Column – From the drop-down list, select the key column in the referenced table.
What Integer Value Means "Blank" or "No Value" – Type an integer value that represents a blank or null value. You can also leave the box empty to indicate null values.
Which Column in the Reference Table Contains the Name (Textual Value) of the Selection – From the drop-down list, select the column in the referenced table that contains the actual name or text value of the referred item.
Unique Identifier Field for Relational Lookup – From the drop-down list, select the field that contains the unique identifier for relational and multi-relational lookups. Only fixed-length Text fields are available. By default, the system title field is used.
Click OK to return to the Map External Source Fields to Destination Fields dialog box.
