Connecting to the Generic ODBC Import Data Source

When you are importing data from a generic ODBC database, the Connect to Import Source dialog box opens after you specify your import source on the Source for the Import dialog box.

Note: If Windows authentication has been configured, you do not need to enter a database login ID and password.
Note: If you are modifying an Import Option Set, the ODBC Data Source and Database Login ID options are pre-populated.

To connect to the database from which you are importing data:

  1. From the ODBC Data Source drop-down list, select the ODBC data source you want to import data from. If you are editing an existing Import Option Set, you cannot change the ODBC Data Source.
Tip: To create an ODBC data source, click ODBC.
  2. In the Database Login ID box, type the login ID for the database from which you are importing data, if necessary. If you are editing an existing Import Option Set, you cannot change the database login ID.
  3. In the Database Password box, type the password for the login ID provided, if necessary. You must provide a password, even if you are modifying an Import Option Set.
  4. Click Next to continue.
