Advanced Tab

Use the Advanced tab of the New Item Dialog Box if you need to override any of the default settings from the General tab.

NOTE  If you change the values for the Filename or Folder fields on the Advanced tab, Dimensions CM may automatically update the values of Item Type, Item Format or Owning Design Part based on what you have changed. It is advisable to select the General tab again to check these fields.

Description

Rules and Guidelines

ID

Accept, or type, the item ID.

Do not edit this field if your process model rules are set to automatically generate the item ID from the project filename. Any text that you type is ignored and the item ID generated automatically.

Otherwise, you must type a unique ID in this field.

Note:You cannot use the following characters in the item ID:

  • "."

  • ";"

  • "-"

  • "'"

  • "@"

  • "`"

  • ":"

Status

Type a valid status for the item type.

The default is the initial state in the item lifecycle.

Note: If you specify a lifecycle state that has been set to 'sensitive' in your process model, that status is ignored and the item is created at the initial state of the lifecycle.

Variant

Type the name for a variant item.

The default is the variant for the product.

Revision

Type a revision ID for the item.

The default is 1.

Project

Type the project folder and filename for the new item.

The Project fields are populated automatically if you have specified a filename in the Item/Folder to Add field on the General tab.

If you specify a folder, it should be relative to the root project folder.

If you type a filename, the name must be unique in the project folder.

Library Filename

Type the name for the item in the Dimensions CM item library.

This field defaults to the value in the Project Filename field.

Branch

Select a named branch for the new item.

If the list is empty, named branches are not enabled for the current project.
