The New Work Area dialog box allows you to create or edit a work area, deployment area, or library cache area, and assign users or groups to that area.

ID |
The name of the area. |

Network node |
Select the name of the network node for the machine on which the area is to be. This is the logical network node that needs to have been defined in the Administration Console Network Administration. See the System Administration Guide for details. |

Directory |
The drive and directory name for the area. Note You cannot assign the same location (the same network node and directory) to more than one area. An error will occur if this location has already been assigned. |

Node user ID |
The O/S username that will be used to access the area on the node. This user ID and the password need to have been registered using the dmpasswd utility. You can also enter a credential set. For details see the System Administration Guide. |

Node password |
The password that will be used to access the area on the node. |
Not required if you are using credential sets. |
Stage ID |
The lifecycle stage for which files are transferred when the item revisions are actioned to the corresponding state. |

Area owner |
The Dimensions user that will be able to edit the area details contained in this dialog box. |

Area Filter |
Specifies the filter used to control the types of item files that are copied to the deployment area. CAUTION! Audit and area filters can easily be confused. See Correct Use of Area and Audit Filters.

Pre-event Transfer Script |
A file containing a script to be performed before a transfer takes place. |
Only appears if Area Type is Deployment. |
Post-event Transfer Script |
A file containing a script to be performed after a transfer takes place |
Only appears if Area Type is Deployment. |
Fail-event Transfer Script |
A file containing a script to be performed if a transfer fails to complete successfully |
Only appears if Area Type is Deployment. |
Available Users / Groups |
The list of available users set up in the base database. |
Only appears if Area Type is Work. |
Users/groups granted permission to access this area |
The users/groups that have been granted permission to access the area. |
Only appears if Area Type is Work. |
