Register/Edit Client Server Connection Dialog Box

The Register/Edit Client Server Connection dialog box enables you to create or edit the connection between a Dimensions CM client node and server node.

Client Node

The client node which requires access to the server node.

  • Required.

  • Node must be previously defined on the Network Nodes tab.

Server Node

The server node which hosts network-accessible Dimensions CM item libraries.

  • Required.

  • Node must be previously defined on the Network Nodes tab.

Server Logical Node

The name of the logical node associated with the server.

Optional.

Protocol

The network protocol used to facilitate access between the client and the server—either SDP for the standard network protocol or SSLSDP if a Secure Sockets Layers network protocol is being used.

Optional.

Network Object

The network object used to facilitate access between the client and the server.

  • Required.

  • Network object must be previously defined on the Network Nodes tab.

File System

The file system for the registered operating system.

Optional.

Code Set

The code set or code page used to encode characters.

Optional.

Direct File Copy

Used, where possible, to enable direct file transfers between two nodes, thus offering performance enhancements. An example scenario would be when a Dimensions CM client and the item library are physically located on the same node and there are no firewall issues with respect to communication between the client and the item library area nodes.
