Adding Roles

Roles are associated with applications and serve two functions:

They are a named collection of privileges. For example, an "Employee" role could be a collection of privileges suitable for someone to whom items are assigned but who has no administrative or managerial tasks. Someone with an "Employee" role could be able to view a field value in the SBM User Workspace but not modify it.
They are a means to populate selection lists in the SBM User Workspace for User, Multi-User, and Multi-Group fields. For example, if an Approver field in a Time Off application is associated with a "Manager" role, then only managers appear in the list in the SBM User Workspace.

Where do I add a new role?
In SBM Composer. Right-click the Roles heading in App Explorer and then select Add New Role.
How do I grant or deny the privileges a role can have?
Select the role in App Explorer, and in the role editor to the right, select or clear check boxes.
Where do I assign a user to a role?
In SBM System Administrator.
What is the difference between roles and groups?
Groups are a named collection of users, where roles are a named collection of privileges. For example, a group could be created for a particular project a team is working on, or for a division within a company. You can assign roles to a group.
