Configuring Your Mashup Server

This topic discusses changes that administrators must make to your Mashup Server to allow SBM Mobile to function properly.

SBM Mobile does not require any changes to user permissions to access your Mashup Server. It does require that the server is accessible from the user's iPhone, meaning that the user needs access to the network where the Mashup Server resides. SBM Mobile currently allows users to perform only quick transitions. This may require that you alter your mashups to include quick transitions. You can also modify email notifications to enable SBM Mobile to launch automatically when the user clicks the hyperlink .

Changing User Access Permissions

No change is required to allow users access to the Mashup Server from SBM Mobile. Administrators do not add a specific user permission or configuration setting to allow access to Mashup Server.

Allowing Network Access to Mashup Server

Your iPhone users need access to the network that your Mashup Server resides in.

For example, if you are connecting to a WiFi network outside of your corporate network and your Mashup Server is behind a corporate firewall, you will not be able to connect to your Mashup Server unless you can access your corporate network using the VPN from your iPhone. Contact your IT department for information on connecting to your corporate network using the iPhone VPN.

iPhone supports VPNs that use the L2TP, PPTP, or Cisco IPSec VPN protocols. Currently, only the Cisco VPN network has been tested with SBM Mobile (July 2010). For a complete list of supported VPN protocols, see this article.

Adding Quick Transitions to your Workflow

SBM Mobile only supports quick transitions. This means that if your approval transition is not a quick transition in your workflow, users will not be able to perform the approval from SBM Mobile.

Note: Quick transitions are a particular type of transition available to you when you are designing your workflows in Mashup Composer.

If your users perform approvals from SBM Mobile and you do not have a quick transition, you must modify your workflow in Mashup Composer to add a quick transition where the approval or rejection occurs. Refer to the Serena® Mashup Composer Guide for more information on adding quick transitions to your workflow.

Configuring Email Link

You can configure your email notification templates to make email notifications more conducive to using SBM Mobile. You can add an SBM Mobile specific link to your email notifications. When users click this link in their iPhone, the SBM Mobile application will open and the item will display in the SBM Mobile format, instead of on the Safari browser.

Note: If iPhone users click a normal hyperlink, the iPhone will launch the Safari browser to view the item, instead of SBM Mobile. The Safari browser displays the entire Web interface, instead of the individual item view available in SBM Mobile.

To include the link, add the following code to your email notification template on the Mashup Server:

If you are using an iPhone or iTouch, click on the following link to view the item:
sbmmobile://<servername>/tmtrack/tmtrack.dll?View&I=$ISSUEID()&T=$TABLEID()
