Application Gates

Gates provide a mechanism to ensure that component versions cannot be deployed into environments unless they have the gate-specified status. Component versions do not have to have gates. Gates can be defined for each environment associated with the application, and each environment can have one set of gate conditions. Gate conditions are a combination of version and snapshot statuses to be required to allow component versions or snapshots to be deployed to a target environment.

You add version and snapshot status values in the Adminstration > Automation > Statuses and through the Serena DA > Version > Add Status to Version plug-in step.

To set the status of a component version and the status of a snapshot, use the Add a Status button on their Versions and Dashboard tabs, respectively.

To view the status of a component version, select the component's Versions tab and look at the value in the Latest Status field (Management > Components > [selected component] > Versions).

For the procedure to select the statuses that you want to use as conditions for an application gate, see Creating Gates.
