Integration Overview

The integrations provided by Deployment Automation enable you to execute deployment-related tasks through many Serena and third-party products.

SBM Solution Integration

Communication between SBM and Deployment Automation enables release deployment automation from SBM solutions, such as Release Manager. Integration mechanisms that enable this communication are as follows:

• REST Grid Widgets

  You can select Deployment Automation RESTful service data and populate SBM REST Grid widgets directly from SBM Composer using Deployment Automation Composer Mode. REST Grid widgets are used in the communication between Release Manager and Deployment Automation in several Release Manager process apps. This communication enables the creation and linking of Deployment Automation applications and environments and the access of Deployment Automation processes for automation deployment tasks.

• User Auto-registration

  When that user accesses functionality in Deployment Automation through Release Manager, the SBM Single Sign-On (SSO) token from Release Manager sends the sign on information, and Deployment Automation extracts the credentials from the SSO token. Those credentials are used to register the user in Deployment Automation. See the SBM documentation for more details on SSO.

• Linking Applications and Environments to SBM Objects

  Applications and environments are created from and linked to Release Manager through SBM REST Grid widgets and Deployment Automation RESTful services. Release Manager stores the information in Deployment Automation tables. This integration also enables Release Manager users to put environments online and successfully initiate deployments directly from the Release Manager user interface.

Plug-ins

• General Plug-ins

  Deployment Automation provides plug-ins for integrating with many products, including other Serena products. The plug-in steps are used in Deployment Automation processes to accomplish almost unlimited possibilities for deployment-related tasks.

• Serena Release Manager Deployment Hub

  Extended plug-ins are provided for the Deployment Automation deployment hub. Information on configuring the communication with these products is given in the following sections:

  • Integrating with Nolio
