You should create a turnover when you are ready to begin configuring the
deployment details for an application release. You can create a turnover
directly from a release train, an application release, or through the turnovers
project. Regardless of where you create them, turnovers must always be
associated with applications, because you are always deploying application
artifacts.
Prerequisites:
- You must have an existing deployment path.
- You must have an existing application release.
- If you create the turnover from a release train, or by submitting
into the Turnovers project and selecting Item Type Release Train, you must
already have a release train to which to associate it.
- To create a turnover from an application release, you must first
begin work on the application release.
- To create a turnover from a release train, the release train must
first be submitted and started.
To create a turnover:
- In a release train or application release, in the
Turnovers tab, click
Create Turnover.
Note: A release train must be in the
Construction stage and an application release must be in the
Begin Work stage for the
Create Turnover button to appear. These are
enforced by rules in the process app.
- Fill out the required fields and any desired optional fields and then
click
Submit.
- Configure and manage the turnover using the tabs that appear in the
form.
Required Fields
The required fields when you create a turnover are as follows:
- Title
- Developer
- Description
- Release Type: Select the release type, such as Development,
Emergency, or Normal. The release type filters the deployment paths available
to this turnover.
- Deployment Path: Specify the deployment path for this
turnover. You must select the release type first, because deployment paths are
filtered by release type. Only active deployment paths appear for selection.
Other required fields that may appear,
depending on how you create the turnover, are as follows:
- Item Type: Select
Release Train or
Application Release.
- Release Train: Select the release train to which this turnover
belongs. This field appears only if you select
Item Type
Release Train.
- Application Releases: Select the application releases to which
this turnover belongs. This field appears for either
Item Type, but you can select only one
application release for
Item Type
Application Release and multiple application releases for
Item Type
Release Train.
Tabs
The tabs available from a turnover once it is created are as follows:
- Deployment Path: View the deployment path for this turnover,
including detailed deployment history for each environment in the path. Refer
to
Creating and Designing Deployment Paths.
- Deployment Tasks: View and add deployment tasks for this
turnover. Refer to
Adding Deployment Tasks.
- Component Versions: View, download, and add component versions
for this turnover. Refer to

- Requirements/Development: Select requirements and development
work items to associate with this turnover. The selection is limited to those
already associated with the application release or application releases to
which the turnover belongs.
- Notes/Attachments: View notes and attachments that have been
added to the item through the
Serena Work Center
More option and related email correspondence.
- History: View the history of the turnover item.
