Installation Considerations

The installer includes both the Serena Release Manager solution file and the Serena Service Manager solution files. By following the Release Manager installation and configuration steps, you can successfully install and configure Service Manager as well. However, Release Manager requires unique pre-installation and configuration steps that are not required for Service Manager; therefore, you cannot use the Service Manager steps to install and configure both solutions.

If you plan to use both Service Manager and Release Manager:

1. Carefully read and perform all of the Pre-Installation Checklist tasks for each solution. For Service Manager, see Pre-Installation Checklist. For Release Manager, see Pre-Installation Checklist.
2. Perform the Release Manager installation and configuration steps as described in Installing Serena Release Manager and Configuring Serena Release Manager.
3. Import the solution files and promote the snapshots for both solutions according to the steps in this help document. You do not have to import both solutions in Application Repository in order to successfully use either solution.
