Record locking allows only one user to update or transition a primary or
auxiliary item at a time. Record locking is enabled per table by your
      administrator.

When record locking is enabled, the following
      occurs:

      - A record is locked when you open an item for updating or
transitioning or you begin editing a row in the Rich Editable Grid.
Note: If you modify items in the Editable Grid and then navigate away
from it without saving or discarding your changes, the modified items remain
locked until the timeout period expires or the locks are manually removed.

- Other users can view locked items and add notes and attachments to
them, but they cannot edit items that are locked by another user.

- If you attempt to update or transition a locked record, a message
appears that the record is currently locked.
Note: Depending on administrative settings, you may be able to view
which user has a record locked. A
Back button also appears, enabling you to view
          the item.

- You can break your own lock, but you cannot break the locks of other users.
- Breaking your own lock does not prevent form data from being repopulated if
Restore Saved Form Data is enabled. For example, if you entered
data on a transition form and then navigated to another page before completing the
transition, selecting the transition again will prompt you with the You have already
started work... message. Choosing Break Lock will not erase
your data. The form will still be repopulated with the data that you had entered
          previously.
Locks are released when the following occurs:

      - An update or transition is completed.

- You cancel a transition or update.

- You save or discard modified rows in the Editable Grid.

- The lock expires and another user has the lock.

- A system process with higher priority breaks the lock.

- An administrator clears clocks.

If your lock is broken, an error message appears when you attempt to
transition or update the record on which you are working.
If you have privileges to view System reports, you can run the
Item Lock report. This report provides a list of items that are
locked by users. You can select the tables for which you want to see item
locks. The report displays the title of the locked item, the user holding the
lock, and the amount of time remaining on the lock. For details, refer to
      System Reports.
