Managing File Associations

File associations are similar to version control actions, which display the history of source code control operations associated with primary items. File associations differ, however, because you can add, modify, and delete them from within the SBM User Workspace.

The following information applies to file associations managed within the SBM User Workspace:

Adding File Associations

To add a file association to a primary item:

  1. Locate the item to which you want to add a file association.
  2. From the Actions drop-down list, select Add File Association. The Add/Modify File Association dialog box opens.
  3. Complete the fields on the Add/Modify File Association dialog box as needed.
    Field Description
File Name Provide the full path and file name for the file association in the top box, or click Browse to navigate to a file. If you navigate to a file, the full path and file name are automatically provided in both File Name boxes. The name provided in the top box is saved with the file association.
Check-out Revision / Check-in Revision Type revision numbers for the file association to record specific version control actions:
    • No Version Control Action – Do not provide check-out revision or check-in revision numbers.

    • Check-Out Action – Provide only a check-out revision number.

    • Check-In Action – Provide only a check-in revision number.

    • Check-Out and Check-In Actions – Provide different revision numbers for check-out and check-in.

    • Undo Check-Out – Provide the same revision numbers for check-out and check-in.
