Adding File Attachments to Items

To add file attachments to a primary or auxiliary item:

  1. Locate the item to which you want to add files.
  2. Choose one of the following options:
    • From the Actions drop-down list, select Add File.
    • Navigate to the Attachments section, and click Add File.
      Note: In some cases, the Attachments section is only visible if the item already contains attachments. This is true for quick forms and for some custom forms, depending on administrative settings.
    The Add File Attachment dialog box opens.
  3. Complete the fields on the Add File Attachment dialog box as needed.
    Field Description
    Name Type a name for the attachment. The attachment name appears as a link under the Attachments section in the Item Details pane.
    Path Click Browse to navigate the attachment directory. You can then select one or more files to add.
    Show file as Image Select this check box to display graphic attachments as images. The file type that you use for this feature depends on the file types your browser supports.
    Unrestricted Select this check box to make the attachments visible to all users who can view the item. Clear the check box to restrict the files as specified by user privileges. The Unrestricted check box is disabled if you do not have privileges to set file attachments as unrestricted for the selected project or auxiliary table.
    On success, automatically close this window Select this check box to close the window when attachments are added.
    Upload & Attach File Click this button to upload the files and attach them to the selected item. If your administrator has specified a size limit for attachments, the SBM User Workspace informs you if the files you are attaching exceeds that limit.
  4. The Close This Window button appears after attachments are added. Click this button to close the Add/Modify File Attachment dialog box.
    Tip: You can also add attachments to certain Text fields and to notes using the Rich Text Editor. For details, refer to Using the Rich Text Editor.
