After you create a database, the Connect dialog box opens. The Connect dialog box can also be opened by selecting Connect from the File menu or by clicking the Connect toolbar button.
The following connection options are available on the Connect dialog box:
ODBC Data Source Name – Select the ODBC Data Source Name option to connect to the database through an ODBC data source.
Remote Connection to Web server – Select this option to connect to the database via the SBM Application Engine Web Server. The remote connection allows you to perform administrator functions from remote machines without using an ODBC connection.
Remote Connection via Proxy Server – Select this option to connect to the SBM Application Engine Web Server via a proxy server. This enables you to perform administrator functions from remote machines without using an ODBC connection.
Reconnect at Startup – Select this check box if you would like to automatically connect to the same database or server the next time you open SBM System Administrator.
ODBC – Click this button to open the ODBC Data Source Administrator, which allows you to add, configure, or remove existing data sources.
The following options are available when you select ODBC Data Source Name:
Data Source – The data source is the name of the ODBC data source you want to connect to. From the drop-down list, select one of the data sources available on the current server.
Database Login ID – Type the name for the database account you want to use to connect to the database. This database account must have permissions to alter tables structures and add columns to tables.
Database Password – Type the password that corresponds to the provided database logon ID.
Remember ODBC Password – Select this check box if you would like SBM to remember your password and automatically provide it the next time you log on. This option is available if you choose to connect via an ODBC data source.
The following options are available when you select Remote Connection to Web Server:
Web Address – Enter the server name or IP address of the computer of the configured SBM Application Engine Web Server.
SBM Login ID – Enter the SBM logon name. Enter your network User ID when you are using Windows authentication.
SBM Password – Enter the SBM password associated with the logon ID.
Remember Remote Password – Select this check box if you would like SBM to remember your password and automatically provide it the next time you log on.
Secure Connection – Select this check box if you would like to use the secure protocol configured for the SBM Application Engine Web Server. Accepted protocols are, SSL 2.0 and 3.0, TSC 1.0, and PCT.
The following options are available when you select Remote Connection via Proxy Server:
Web Address – Enter the server name or IP address of the computer of the configured SBM Application Engine Web Server.
SBM Login ID – Enter the SBM logon name. Enter your network User ID when you are using Windows authentication.
SBM Password – Enter the SBM password associated with the logon ID.
Remember Remote Password – Select this check box if you would like SBM to remember your password and automatically provide it the next time you log on.
Proxy Server – Type the server name or IP address of the proxy server. To specify a port number, type the server name or IP address by typing a colon and the number.
Secure Connection – Select this check box if you would like to use the secure protocol configured for the SBM Application Engine Web Server. Accepted protocols are, SSL 2.0 and 3.0, TSC 1.0, and PCT.
