Table Configuration → Types of Tables
Applications contain a single primary table and, optionally, one or more auxiliary tables.
Primary tables store information about primary items, which follow an application workflow. For example, issues and incidents are primary items that follow application workflows. Primary items are organized in projects, which are assigned to a workflow. Users submit primary items into a specific project, and those items will follow the project's workflow to completion. Primary tables are created in SBM Composer.
Auxiliary tables support but do not follow an application workflow. For example, the system-provided Problems and Resolutions tables store information about product problems and resolutions to those problems. Auxiliary tables can be used to establish relationships between tables using Relational fields.
Several system auxiliary tables are provided when you create a new database. For details, refer to System Auxiliary Tables. Custom auxiliary tables are created in SBM Composer.
