Copying Databases → Using the Copy Database Wizard → Recommendations for Copying a Database
Consider the following recommendations before copying your database:
Stop the SBM Application Engine Web Server while the database is copied. This prevents users from making changes to the database that cause inconsistencies in the copied data.
The license server host name of the original database is copied to the new database and a new database identifier is created. If you intend to connect to and use the copied database, you must add the database identifier to the Serena License Manager if the "auto-add" feature is disabled for your licenses.
If you are migrating your database from one supported DBMS to another supported database engine, use the Copy Database Wizard instead of an import/conversion tool provided by your DBMS. If you are migrating to Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle, prepare the physical database first, and then copy your database into this physical database using the Copy Database Wizard.
The Copy Database Wizard cannot be run from the Remote Administrator.
