You can use the Notification Server, Mail Client, and transitions to
post primary items from one
SBM database to another. When an item is posted to another
database, a posted item confirmation can be recorded. An additional feature is
automatic Transition Triggers, which enable you to transition an item in one
database when it is transitioned in another database. Transition Trigger
confirmation can also be recorded.
Configuring cross-database posting involves several configuration steps
in the source and receiving databases.
Note: The Notification Server and Mail Client do not require any special
setup as long as they are configured and running normally.
Configuring the Source Database to Send Posted Items
To configure the source
SBM database to post items to an external
SBM database:
- Verify that the Notification Server and Mail Client are configured
and running.
- Configure an external database setting in
SBM System Administrator,
including a configuration for receiving posted item confirmation, and
Transition Trigger confirmation if triggers are used. For details, refer to
External Database Configuration Dialog Box.
- In
SBM Composer, create an External Post Item transition for the application
workflow used for cross-database posting. Make sure to specify the external
database name exactly as you named it when you added in
SBM System Administrator.
- Map fields between the two databases as described in
Mapping Fields for External Post Item Transitions. This
step is performed in
SBM Composer.
- Optionally, set up Transition Triggers in
SBM Composer for the application workflow used for cross-database posting.
- Deploy the process app that contains the application to the
environment for the source database.
Configuring the External Database to Receive Posted Items
To configure the external
SBM database to receive items from a source
SBM database:
- In
SBM Application Administrator,
configure a mailbox on the
Mail Boxes page for the project that will
receive items from the external database:
- Select the
Allow External Postings check box to
enable e-mail submissions from an
SBM external database.
- Select the
Allow External Post Updates check box to allow updates
from external
SBM databases to be submitted through this mailbox. This check box
must be selected if items in the current system will be posted to an external
SBM database.
- Set up a submitter for the items.
- In
SBM Composer, create an e-mail submission transition in the receiving
application workflow used for cross-database posting.
- Optionally, set up Transition Triggers in
SBM Composer for the application workflow used for cross-database posting.
- Deploy the process app that contains the application to the
environment for the receiving database.
