About Data Sources

There are two data sources that are used to connect to the Application Engine database: the SBM Application Engine Web Server DSN and the SBM System Administrator DSN. You manage the SBM Application Engine Web Server DSN in the Application Engine ODBC data source field on the Database Servers tab.

For new installations, SBM is the default data source name that appears in the Application Engine ODBC data source field. Click Change if you want to create a new data source, rename the default data source, or select an existing data source.

Tip: Prior to version 10.1.3, the default DSN was Mashup2009. If you are upgrading from a version prior to 10.1.3, SBM Configurator will continue to use the Mashup2009 for the Web server DSN after you upgrade. You can continue to use this DSN, or rename it at any time. If you change the Web server DSN in SBM Configurator, and you want the SBM System Administrator DSN to match, you must manually update the DSN in SBM System Administrator.

To create a new data source:

  1. Click Change. The Change Data Source dialog box appears.
  2. Select Create a new data source, and then enter a new data source name. The SBM Application Engine Web Server will use this data source to connect to the database using the default data source settings.
  3. Click OK to save your changes and close the Change Data Source dialog box. The new data source that you created appears in the Application Engine ODBC data source field.

To rename the current data source:

  1. Click Change. The Change Data Source dialog box appears.
  2. Select Rename current data source, and then enter a different data source name. The SBM Application Engine Web Server will use this data source to connect to the database using the default data source settings.
  3. Click OK to save your changes and close the Change Data Source dialog box. The data source that you renamed appears in the Application Engine ODBC data source field.

To use an existing data source:

  1. Click Change. The Change Data Source dialog box appears.
  2. Select the Select an existing data source option. In the Data source name drop-down list, select the existing DSN that you want to use. The SBM Application Engine Web Server will use this data source to connect to the database.
Important: You must select the check box that appears under drop-down list to preserve any custom settings in your existing data source.
Additionally, if you select an existing data source that uses an unsupported driver, SBM Configurator warns you about using the driver, and then automatically selects the check box and marks it as read-only in order to prevent any inadvertent changes to the data source.
  3. Click OK to save your changes and close the Change Data Source dialog box. The data source that you selected appears in the Application Engine ODBC data source field.
