Renew Utility

This chapter describes the orchestration engine renew utility, which enables you to remove and restore orchestration workflow data from the database.

Renew works by dropping the SBM Orchestration Engine database tables that are created after server startup. It also provides a means to then redeploy the orchestration workflow definitions to the empty Orchestration Engine database. Renew clear requires that the Tomcat service is stopped.

The renew utility can be used for the following:

Systems that generate heavy amounts of orchestration traffic.
A system with very frequent deployments of process apps containing orchestrations, causing the Orchestration Engine database to grow large.

If the SBM system uses orchestrations extensively or frequently, it is recommended that the Orchestration Engine database be on its own instance, separate from the Application Engine database. This allows independent database backups.
