Getting Started With Serena Work Center → Useful Terms
The following terms are used to describe Work Center features and functionality:
An interactive process that solves a business requirement, such as release train management or IT help desk ticket tracking.
A set of applications. Application groups are defined by your administrator or for Serena-provided solutions, such as Serena Service Manager.
In Work Center, pin application groups to your toolbar, and then create views and reports for applications in the group.
Can return work items and data from any application you can access.
Can return work items and data from any application you can access in the application group.
Can return work items and data from the selected application.
An item that tracks work that needs to be completed. Work items follow a process, such as release train approval. Work items are also referred to as primary items.
A storage bin for work items in an application. Each application can have multiple projects and multiple levels of hierarchy.
Present various types of information in the content window. Four types of views are available: dashboard, activity, calendar, and backlog. System views are provided, but you can also create private views or share them with other users.
A set of criteria that returns data for specific view types. Three types of feeds are available: activity, calendar, and backlog.
Returns work items and other data in a variety of formats, such as lists, tables, and graphical charts. You can add reports to dashboard views or access reports in the Report Center.
A means of informing users about changes to work items.
In Work Center, subscribe to notifications to see in the Notifications view and receive by e-mail.
