Getting Started With Serena Work Center → Useful Terms
The following terms are used to describe Work Center features and functionality:
An interactive process that solves a business requirement, such as managing release trains or tracking customer support calls.
A set of applications. Application groups are defined by your administrator or for Serena-provided solutions, such as Serena Release Manager.
In Work Center, pin application groups to your tool bar, and then create views and reports for applications in the group.
Can return work items and data from any application you can access.
Can return work items and data from any application you can access in the application group.
Can return work items and data from the selected application.
An item that tracks work that needs to be completed. Work items follow a process, such as release train approval.
A storage bin for work items in an application. Each application may have multiple projects.
Containers for the various types of information shown in the content window. Three types of views are available: Dashboard, Activity, and Calendar.
Shows work items in a list view based on feed criteria. You can use drill-down capabilities to filter the list by various categories, such as applications, submitters, and owners at the highest level, then projects, states, owners, and submitters at lower levels.
Shows work items in a calendar format based on data in Date/Time fields. For example, you can show work items on a calendar based on a Due Date field.
Returns work items and other data in a variety of formats, such as lists, tables, and graphical charts. Reports are added to Dashboard views.
A means of informing users about changes to work items.
In Work Center, subscribe to notifications to see in the Notifications view and receive in e-mail.
