Generating Views for Deployment Path Reports

As part of the deployment path implementation, Release Control uses SBM advanced reports with view queries to collect and display deployment information for each environment in the path. The views for the advanced reports cannot be created until after the Release Package snapshot has been promoted.

After you have promoted the Release Package process app, you must generate the views, which are automatically added to the Release Package process app as the following tables:

To generate the views:

  1. Before generating the views, do the following to ensure the system is ready:
    1. In SBM Application Repository, view the Activities page to ensure the first Release Package promotion has successfully completed.
    2. Ensure you have opened Work Center at least once since installing Release Control. Otherwise, the necessary data may not yet be loaded into SBM.
  2. Prepare the views for the deployment information tables as follows:
    1. Open a command prompt.
    2. Navigate to the following SBM folder:

      \Application Engine\bin

For example, here are the commands to navigate to the default location:

      cd\

      cd Program Files\Serena\SBM\Application Engine\bin

    3. Execute the following command and wait for it to complete:

      ttadmin.exe /GenerateViewsAllowDelete

Note: This command launches SBM System Administrator, runs a command in the background, and then closes SBM System Administrator. This happens very quickly, but you may see SBM System Administrator flash quickly on the screen as it is opened and closed. If you don't see any error messages, the command was successful.
  3. After you have generated the views, continue with Promoting Release Package Again.
