Troubleshooting Approvals

Following are issues that you may encounter with approvals or approval rules.

Important: Only the RLC - Approvers role includes approval privileges by default; release managers and release engineers must be given the RLC - Approvers role if they are the ones who initiate the deployment into environments that require approval.

Adding an approval rule to an environment opens the wrong form

When adding an approval rule to an environment, you may see an update action form instead of the correct Add Deployment Approval form. This happens if you do not have the right privileges for accessing the Deployment Log for Release Packages and RLC Execution Log tables.

To open the correct form, click OK in the action form.

See Creating Groups and Assigning Roles and Privileges.

A SOAP error occurs when a release package or deployable release train is ready for deployment approval

If your user ID or group does not have the Approval role, your release package or deployable release train move to the state that should generate a deployment approval into an environment, you will receive an error similar to the following:

SOAP Fault String: The submit was not completed successfully. One or more fields are invalid.

'Release Manager' has an invalid selection. Please select a valid value to complete this transition.

Your user ID or group must have the Approval role. See Creating Groups and Assigning Roles and Privileges.
