Creating Release Types

Release Types are auxiliary items that are associated with release packages and task templates.

A release type is a user-defined category that may describe the scope or other aspects of a release. Release type filters things that you want to associate with certain types of releases, such as which deployment paths should be available for selection. Release type can also be used as a report filter for release package information.

The default implementation has the following release types pre-defined:

If you want to use values other than the defaults, these should be created before release packages and task templates are created.

Users who are assigned to these roles in the Release Data process app can create release types in the Release Data auxiliary table:

To create release types:

  1. In Work Center, click the user icon in the upper right of the page, and then select Manage Data.
  2. In the Table field, select Release Types.
  3. Click New.
  4. Provide a title and description.
  5. Click OK.
