Options Tab/Page

Use the Options tab/page to set project flags, and to identify named branches for future revisions.

Project types

To increment version numbers by adding a period before the new number, select Branch.

To increment a version number by incrementing the last numeral, select Trunk.

The default is Trunk.

 It is recommended that you select Trunk, and that you use a single assigned branch.

Revision generation

To use revision strings calculated automatically, select Forced.

To enter your own revision strings, select Optional.

The default is Optional.

 

Use local stages

Determines whether the stage of item revisions is "local" to this project/stream or can be affected when they are actioned (in any project/stream.

 

  • If you select this option, the stage of an item revision in this project/stream is not affected as a result of actioning even when stages in the GSL are associated with states in its lifecycle. The stage in this project/stream can only be changed as a result of promoting and demoting.

  • If you do not select this option, then when the stage of an item revision is changed as a result of actioning, its stage in this project/stream will also be changed.

  • After you have selected this option you cannot deselect it.

  • If your project is using the Serena Deployment Automation (SDA) deployment model, this option is always on.

Project state

To prevent user changes to items in a project, select Locked.

To permit operations on items in a project, select Unlocked.

NOTE  It will still be possible for a user with the Workset Manager role to deliver items to a stream even when this option is set.

The default is Unlocked.

Locked prevents any normal Dimensions CM user from adding, removing, editing, or actioning any item revisions in the project. Checked out item revisions may be checked in.

CM Rules

Select Use item type settings if you want items in this project to obey the CM rules as defined for their item types.

Select Always enabled if you want items in this project to behave as if the CM rules defined for their item types are all enabled regardless of whether they are enabled in the Administration Console.

Select Always disabled if you want items in this project to behave as if the CM rules defined for their item types are all disabled.

The default is the setting defined for the project type in the Administration Console

Request required to refactor

Select this option if you want to require users to provide a request ID when performing actions that result in refactoring changes to this project.

 

Branches assigned to this project

Named branch checkboxes

Select the branches that can be assigned to item revisions in this project

 

Default branch radio buttons

Select the branch that is used as the default for item revisions in this project.
