The Edit Transition dialog box allows you to change the details for a selected transition in the lifecycle, and to specify which roles are allowed to action the object through this transition.
Clicking the add button: opens the New Role Definition dialog box, which enables you to create a new role. When you have created the role it is added to the table of roles in this dialog box.

Optional |
If selected, this means that actioning an object to the transition's from state does not require there to be a user holding that role. If not selected, the actioning will be disallowed if there are no users holding that role. |

Pending |
If selected, the object will appear in the user's inbox and the user will receive email notification when the object is actioned to the from state for the transition. If not selected, it will not appear in the user's inbox and the user will not receive email notification, but the user will still be able to perform the action. |
