New/Edit Node Dialog Box

Physical Nodes

The New/Edit Physical Node dialog box enables you to create a new physical network node or edit the details of an existing one.

Field

Description

Rules and Guidelines

Physical node name

The name of the physical node. The node name will always appear in upper-case.

  • Required.

  • Up to 127 characters.

  • You cannot edit this value after creating the physical node.

Operating system

Select the physical node’s operating system: NT for Windows systems or UNIX for UNIX systems and z/OS systems. See the Advanced tab for predefined case conventions and library protections for each available operating system.

Required.

Contact

The user responsible for the physical node. See the Advanced tab to add, edit, or delete the available contacts.

Optional.

Description

A description of the physical node.

  • Optional.

  • Up to 240 characters.

Logical Nodes

The New/Edit Logical Node dialog box enables you to define a new logical network node or edit the details of an existing logical node.

Logical node name

The name of the logical node.

  • Required.

  • Up to 127 characters.

  • You cannot edit this value after creating the logical node.

Physical node

The physical node to which the logical node is associated.

  • Required.

  • A physical node can have more than once logical name.

Description

A description of the logical node.

  • Optional.

  • Up to 240 characters.
