You should create deployment process templates as needed to support your deployment processes. You can create deployment process templates with all new deployment tasks or you can create deployment process templates from existing deployment tasks in a release package.
To create a deployment process template with new tasks:
Navigate to the Deployment Process Templates page. For example, from My Inbox | Manage All Items, click Deployment Process Template.
Click Create template.
The Create Template dialog box appears.
Fill out the Create Template form.
For example:
Enter Template name.
Select the application to which the deployment process template applies.
Select the stage for which the template applies.
Select the owner, such as Release Engineer, for the template.
Optionally enter a description.
Click OK.
The deployment process template is saved.
You can create a new deployment process template from deployment tasks in a release package.
The save as transfers all existing deployment task field information to the new item. You may edit any field before saving the new item. This enables you to save deployment tasks that you have created for a different stage.
The Save as creates new instances of all deployment tasks associated with the original deployment process template and links them to the new deployment process template.
The Save as is available from any state of the release package.
To create a deployment process template from existing tasks:
Navigate to a release package that has the deployment tasks you want to reuse.
Select the stage that has the deployment tasks you want to reuse.
Click Save as template.
The Save as template dialog box appears.
Fill out the Save as template form.
For example:
Enter the new template name in the Rename Template field.
Select the application to which the deployment process template applies.
Select the stage for which the template applies.
Select the owner, such as Release Engineer, for the template.
Optionally enter a description.
Click OK.
The deployment process template is saved.
