Relating Files to Requests

To track work completed against an open issue or defect, you must relate files to it.

To relate files to requests:

  1. When adding files, checking files out, or checking files in, you can choose the requests to relate to the files.

  2. Or, you can relate files directly from Dimensions to IDM requests from the IDM Requests view. To do this:

    1. From the IDM Requests view, find the request you want to relate and double-click it to open it. The request opens into the Browser View tab, which displays the Serena Business Manager browser view of the request.

    2. Select the Relationships tab.

    3. Select Item from the Related Objects table and click the Add button.

    4. On the Relate Item Revision dialog box, choose the relationship type and click the Browse button to search for the file.

    5. On the Select Item wizard, enter criteria to narrow the search and click Next.

    6. On the next screen, choose the items and revisions to relate to the request, and click Finish.

    7. Click OK on the Relate Item Revision dialog box.
