Allowing users to disable email notifications
You can allow users in your organization to disable email notifications. When this option is enabled, team members will be able to choose the Receive Notifications as Emails option when they manage their personal settings.
- From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Customization.
- Select the Environment Settings tab.
- Select the Notification Settings tab.
- Select Allow Users to Disable their Email Notifications.
- Click Save.
Configuring notifications
Before users can receive notifications, you must enable a notification queue that is hosted on messaging sever that supports MSMQ. The notification queue should be a remote public queue.
- From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Customization.
- Select the Environment Settings tab.
- Select the Notification Settings tab.
- Enter the name of a server which is hosting email notification queue, the name of the queue, and the default locale.
- Click Save.
Disabling email notifications
Application notifications (system notifications) cannot be disabled, but it is possible to enable and disable email notifications.
- From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Customization.
- Select the Environment Settings tab.
- Select the Notification Settings tab.
- De-select Enable Email Notifications.
- Click Save.
Enabling email notifications
After a messaging server and a notification queue have been configured, you can enable email notifications. To do this, you will need to identify the SMTP server address, the port number, specify the default sender, and the default email address from which notifications will be sent.
- From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Customization.
- Select the Environment Settings tab.
- Select the Notification Settings tab.
- Select Enable Email Notifications. Only users who have an email address entered and the Send Email Notifications option selected from the Users tab of the Security tab can receive email notifications.
- Enter the name from whom the email notification is sent.
- Enter the email address from whom the email notification is sent.
- Enter the address for the SMTP server through which an email notification is sent.
- Enter the port through which an email notification is sent.
- Click Save.
Enabling SMTP authentication
SMTP authentication can be used to validate the account used to send email notifications to users.
- From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Customization.
- Select the Environment Settings tab.
- Select the Notification Settings tab.
- Select Use SMTP Authentication.
- Enter a user name and password (twice, for verification).
- Click Save.
Viewing notification settings
Notification settings can be viewed from the Notification Settings tab in the Environment Settings tab.
- From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Customization.
- Select the Environment Settings tab.
- Select the Notification Settings tab.
