Adding an item type

Add a new item type. The work container option allows an item type to be associated with a specific work hierarchy. The team option allows an item type to represent an Agile team (to which assignable work items can be assigned). Once a work type is set to be a work container or a team, it cannot be changed.

To add an item type

  1. From the top-level navigation, open the Admin module.
  2. Select Customization.
  3. Select the Types Setup tab.
  4. Select the Investment Types tab.
  5. Click New New.
  6. Name the item type. Select an icon and/or a color to which the item type will be associated.
  7. Select Active to make this item type available; only active item type can be used to create new items.
  8. Select Creatable to make this item type available in the New Investment dialog box and in the Investment Type list on an item request page. Use this option to limit the type of items users can create.
  9. Under Type, select the work type option: None, Work Container, or Team.
  10. On the Attributes tab, move the attributes you want to be associated with this item type to the right column. Required attributes cannot be removed.
  11. On the Containment tab, select the item type's parent and child item types. A work container cannot have a work container as a child item type.
  12. On the Set Views tab, associate the views that will be available in the Projects module when team members are working on this item.
  13. Click Save Save.
