Settings

Use the Settings dialog to display your home page when you log on, set your timesheet color preferences, set your default currency preferences, download the Mariner Connector for Microsoft Project, and to enable or disable email notifications.

Change password

For any user name, the password is the same for any database to which the user name has been granted access. You can change your password. Passwords are case-sensitive, and must be at least four characters long.

To change your password
  1. In the toolbar, select Change Password from the drop-down.
  2. In the Change Password dialog box, enter your old password and your new password (the second time to confirm it).
  3. Click Save.

Disable notifications

You can disable email notifications.

To disable your email notifications
  1. In the toolbar, select Settings from the drop-down next to your user name.
  2. In the Settings dialog box under Notification Settings, de-select Receive Notifications as Emails. This option is available only when your administrator has enabled email notifications and has allowed individual users to disable their email notifications.
  3. Click OK.

Enable notifications

After a messaging server and a notification queue have been configured, you can enable email notifications. To do this, you will need to identify the SMTP server address, the port number, specify the default sender, and the default email address from which notifications will be sent.

To enable email notifications
  1. From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Customization.
  2. Select the Environment Settings tab.
  3. Select the Notification Settings tab.
  4. Select Enable Email Notifications. Only users who have an email address entered and the Send Email Notifications option selected from the Users tab of the Security tab can receive email notifications.
  5. Enter the name from whom the email notification is sent.
  6. Enter the email address from whom the email notification is sent.
  7. Enter the address for the SMTP server through which an email notification is sent.
  8. Enter the port through which an email notification is sent.
  9. Click Save.

Enable timesheet colors

You can display the line items in your timesheet using colors that correspond to an item type, activity, or work item. Using timesheet colors can help to easily differentiate line items while working in the My Timesheet tab.

To enable colors in your timesheet
  1. In the toolbar, select Settings from the drop-down next to your user name.
  2. In the Settings dialog box under Timesheet Colors, select Use Investment Type Colors for Timesheet Views.
  3. Click OK.

Set defaults

The My Homepage tab displays a collection of important information in a single view. Your administrator designs the layout of the My Homepage tab by defining the size, position, and type of content that appears on the My Homepage tab for all users in each role.

To set your home page defaults
  1. In the toolbar, select Settings from the drop-down next to your user name.
  2. In the Settings dialog box under Homepage, select Use My Homepage for Login and select a role from the list of roles.
  3. Click OK. The next time you log in to Mariner 2008, the home page for the selected role will be displayed.

Set locale

You can use Microsoft Windows locale settings for email notifications.

To set your email locale
  1. In the toolbar, select Settings from the drop-down next to your user name.
  2. In the Settings dialog box under Notification Settings, select your locale from the Email Locale drop-down.
  3. Click OK.

Set currency

If multi-currency is enabled, you can select a currency to use when working in your projects. All data will display in the currency you select, regardless of the system currency or the currency used in the original data. The currency values for various currencies are calculated based on the selected currency exchange rate entered by your administrator.

To set your personal currency
  1. In the toolbar, select Settings from the drop-down next to your user name.
  2. In the Settings dialog box under Currency Settings, select your currency from the Currency drop-down and choose the date on which you want this setting to take effect.
  3. Click OK.
