System Settings

This tab lets you configure documents manager server, workflow, and reporting server settings. A documents manager server is used to point to the Documents Manager. A reporting server is used to point to a server running Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services. Workflow settings determine whether workflow transitions are done using the Workflow tab in the Projects module and the time period used for workflow transition audits.

Configuring documents management

Before users can save documents in the Documents tab of the Projects module, you must enable documents management.

To configure documents management

From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Configuration.
Select the Environment Settings tab.
Select the System Settings tab.
Under Documents Settings, enter the name of the server running Documents Manager and the database into which documents will be saved.
Click Save.

Configuring reporting

Before users can use out-of-the-box and/or custom reports, you must configure a server that is running Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.

To configure reporting

From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Configuration.
Select the Environment Settings tab.
Select the System Settings tab.
Under Reporting Settings, enter the HTTP location of the server running Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (for example, http://serverName/ReportServer), the service path for the location in which the reporting service is installed (for example, /ReportService.asmx), and the root path to the folder which will contain the reports (for example, /PESReports).
Click Save. You may need to run IISRESET to pick up the connection.

Configuring workflow auditing

Before users can view workflow audits, you must configure workflow auditing.

To configure workflow auditing

From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Configuration.
Select the Environment Settings tab.
Select the System Settings tab.
From the Workflow Audit Bucket Size drop-down, select an option: Calendar Month, Calendar Quarter, Calendar Year, Fiscal Month, Fiscal Quarter, Fiscal Year, or Selected Timeframe. This time period is used to determine the date range for a workflow transition audit.
Click Save.

Disabling workflow transitions

Workflow transitions are enabled by default and help your organization ensure that item type changes are done using established criteria and an approval process before they can be finished. You can disable workflow transitions in the Workflow tab, which will allow users with permission to edit items in the Projects module to change an item type directly.

To disable workflow transitions

From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Configuration.
Select the Environment Settings tab.
Select the System Settings tab.
Under Workflow Settings, select Allow Investment Type Changes Without Workflow.
Click Save.

Viewing workflow and reporting settings

System settings for documents management, workflow settings, and reporting can be viewed from the System Settings tab in the Environment Settings tab.

To view documents, workflow, and reporting settings

From the application toolbar, click Setup, and then select Configuration.
Select the System Settings tab.
