Enhancements
The following improvements were made in this release:
- Relays
- View and manage agent relays through the user interface Resources page.
- Use the new Server Initiated setting for agent relays to reverse HTTP communication between servers and agents.
- View network relays alongside the agent relays in the Resources page; these are now used only in server-to-server communication in High Availability configurations.
- Plug-ins
- With the new Puppet plug-in, list information about and modify various Puppet Enterprise Console objects as part of your Deployment Automation processes.
- Use the new Upload Step Attachment step for the Serena DA Versioned File Storage (VFS) plug-in to upload file attachments to the server as part of your Deployment Automation processes.
- Built-in Properties
- New built-in properties, prevStep and logPath, can be used in process steps to make it easier to reference previous step property values and the log path value for given steps. These are used together in the Log Parser plug-in as the default expression for Include Files, but can be used in any process to conveniently reference this information.
- Installer Updates
- The server installer now includes the files and properties needed to use the Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) Source Config Type when adding your component versions to Deployment Automation. This saves you the time and manual effort formerly required to copy these files to your server.

Upgrades
For details on upgrading Deployment Automation agents and agent relays, see the version 5.1.5 Serena Deployment Automation User's Guide.
To upgrade a Deployment Automation server, use the version 5.1.5 server installer to upgrade from the following on Tomcat servers only:
- Deployment Automation versions 5.1.2 to 5.1.4
- Serena Release Automation versions 5.1 and 5.1.1
If you are upgrading from Serena Release Automation versions earlier than version 5.1, first upgrade from that version to version 5.1 as documented in the version 5.1 Serena Deployment Automation User's Guide, and then upgrade to version 5.1.5.
For any other upgrade scenarios, please contact Serena Support for assistance.
About Upgrading Agent Relays
Agent relays for version 5.1.5 that are configured for server-initiated connection are compatible only with Deployment Automation servers version 5.1.5 and above. You cannot connect to version 5.1.5 agent relays through network relays as was possible in earlier server versions. If you attempt to do this, the agents connected through the agent relay will not be in Online status.
Known Issues
For a complete and up-to-date list of issues found in this release of Deployment Automation, refer to the Knowledge Base.
Issues known to exist at the time of release are as follows:
- For the Puppet plug-in, for any step that requires user
intervention when the process is executing, the selected string cannot have /
as the beginning character.
For the Puppet plug-in, any string beginning with / cannot be in a field that is selected when you are prompted for more information during the execution of a requested process. The selected information is appended to the URL and passed as-is to the process, so the URL that is passed will be invalid and the process will fail.
For example, if /usr/src/installer is a parameter value for base_path, and you use one of the List steps and select it, the resulting URL that is passed to Puppet will include an extra /. This will cause the URL to be invalid and the process to fail.
