The Git Client IDE Plug-ins enable developers working with Git to access Dimensions CM from integrated development environments (IDEs). The IDEs execute Git commands that are redirected to the Git Client, which synchronizes the changes with a Dimensions CM repository.

Supported IDEs

Git Client Plug-in 1.1 supports the following IDEs:

• Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 (15.0) and later.
• Microsoft Visual Studio Code 1.22.2 and later.
• Eclipse IDE 3.8.2 and later. Eclipse requires eGit plug-in 4.5 or later.
• Jet Brains IntelliJ IDEA 2018.x and later.

Installing

To use the Git Client IDE plug-ins, install your software in this order on the same machine:

1. Install your IDEs.
2. Install Git. Note that Microsoft Visual Studio has its own bundled installation of Git.
3. Install the Dimensions CM Git Client.
4. Install the Dimensions CM Git Client Plug-in.

Git Client IDE plug-in 1.1 supports these new features:

• Visual Studio Code: open requests in Pulse, open Pulse home page, and improved cloning of streams
• Visual Studio: open requests in Pulse, and open Pulse home page
• Eclipse: use a request picker to relate requests to commits
• IntelliJ IDEA: display Dimensions CM requests, open requests in Pulse, and open Pulse home page

• Stream names must not contain spaces.
• You may not be able to push changes to a remote repository after using the Git reset command.
• Does not support projects and IDM requests.
• IDE plug-ins do not support CAC.

• Unable to clone a stream and all child streams (e.g. /*) in IntelliJ IDEA.
• Error messages in Visual Studio 2017 have limited details.
